Through Shana's vast knowledge of plants and her upbeat teaching style you will discover:
    • How to easily identify the best plants for eating
    • How to properly harvest plants to ensure plants can come back the next season
    • Why the same plant is safe to eat when taken from one area but not safe if grown in another area (and how to avoid the problem areas)
    • How to identify "imposter" or look-alike plants that look similar to edible plants
    • Fun ways to prepare and eat your edible plants
    • Which plants you want to avoid
    • Which edible plants also have medicinal properties
And more!

You will also be allowed to pick and harvest plants to take home! (available plants for harvesting will depend on the quantity growing).

Plus there will be a tasting event afterwards so you can try the plants prepared in a recipe, and you will be given printed recipes to take home.

Please bring:
    • A basket or bags ( cloth or paper ) to collect plants to take home
    • Scissors or clippers
    • Gardening gloves

Please wear long pants and good walking or hiking shoes (no open-toed shoes). We encourage you to take photographs and notes!

For this event you must be able to walk 1-2 miles. Most of the walk will be on flat or nearly flat land, however there may be small slopes to walk up and down.

Please park at the Welburn Gourd Farm parking area. We will meet near the Gourd Store entrance. Parking is FREE.
