May 29, 2023: Memorial Day: Honoring Those Who Have Given Their Lives Serving Our Country

 Today we remember those military men and women who have died in service to our country.

Patricia won both First Place and the People’s Choice award from the Arizona Gourd Society for this incredible gourd.

We are honored to have this stunning gourd currently on display in the Welburn Gourd Farm store. Please stop by if you are in the area. In year’s past we have held sales events on Memorial Day and donated proceeds to various charities focused on helping or honoring military service people and their families.

While it was nice to sponsor worthy causes through the sale of gourd products, we decided to do something different this year that would put the focus more directly on the significance of this special day.

In looking for ways to truly honor our fallen soldiers, we found a wonderful organization called “The Memorial Day Flowers Foundation.”

The Foundation gives volunteers the chance to hand out flowers for placement at veteran gravesites at Arlington National Cemetery and cemeteries across the county.
