Accent your gourd art with a splash of brilliant color! Use Metallic Inks for durable, reflective color that is long lasting and will not fade, chip, or peel off your gourd surface.
As with the regular Gourd Ink Dyes, they are alcohol-free and are specially formulated to provide a rich color that withstands time. Thicker than the regular Gourd Ink Dyes, the Metallic Gourd Inks are applied using a paintbrush or Fine Tip Applicator and go on as a solid, opaque color (no transparency). Mix well before applying.
You'll love the high quality, long-lasting durable color of the Metallic Gourd Inks! Take a look at the art pieces below for more inspiration!

"My latest Geisha Gourd. The floral pattern is from your video (Creating a Gourd Vase with Flowers and Fancy-Cut Rim). The birds are from the birdhouse stick n burn package, and the geisha and kanji are from my patterns. The gourd? A Welburn, of course. It was a from a ['Bargain Quality'] box of gourds. Loved the shape, but the skin needed to be painted. The geisha gourd was painted with transparent acrylics and metallic inks. I used formula 49 to remove ink dyes from the hair to create highlights. The butterflies were cut from patterned scrapbook paper with a paper punch and the geisha patterned clothes cut from patterned origami papers." -Diane Bruder

Letters from Customers
"I had been a watercolor painter for 30 years and needed a bit of a change. So I took up wood carving. I did that for several years and enjoyed the challenge but missed the joy of using color.
Then I came to Welburn Gourd Farm just as an outing. I bought a few dyes and a few gourds. Then I came back two weeks later. I bought more gourds and a few more dyes. I was enjoying myself! Then I took a big step and bought a Pro-carver!
That was it. I found a craft that allows me to utilize my previous skills of watercolor painting and wood carving at the same time. I've got to admit it, I'm hooked. Thank You , Welburn!" -Terry Thiesen

"...Working on gourds is the most relaxing hobby I've ever had and just touching a gourd brings me a peacefulness I cannot describe. When I visited your farm in February and really liked seeing your place. Wish I lived closer! I'll be back!" - Thanks, Linda Flener

"Love the Formula 49... the fact that it will almost completely remove ink dye is a reason alone to call it a great product, not to mention how well it works to blend the inks. I just wish it came in a bigger bottle!" -Gloria Crane, Gourd Artist and Instructor
