Pre-Boxed Apple Gourds
Pre-Boxed Apple Gourds
Please Note: The photos are meant as a general representation of the shapes of gourds you can expect to receive.
These fun, 5" to 7" diameter*, square-shaped gourds actually grow looking just like an apple! Paint them red, add a leaf design, and you have a perfect, ever-lasting home accent, like the art pieces shown below!. Apple gourds have a shell that is more dense than most gourds, which means they are extremely durable, plus they will polish to a higher sheen.
This fun Schoolhouse Apple Gourd is by Diane Wilson Kemp! She posted for sale in the Gourd Art Marketplace here. It has a rose vine growing around the door and the ruler shutter around the window with three books showing through. A worm hole at the top with a graduating worm peaking out. A lovely example of creativity using an Apple Gourd!

Pictured left is a carved Apple Gourd by Kelsey Nelson. The shell was colored using Apple Red Ink Dye and the filigree holes were carved with the GourdMaster™ Fili-Point Burr!
The art piece was then accented with a Beech Leaf cut-out and colored with Forest Green Transparent Acrylic.
Apple Gourds are dense, which means the shell is harder than other gourd shapes, and carving with a Fili-Point burr might take a bit longer.
Cut the top off to create a fun container for potpourri, candy, or other items!
Pictured above is a festive lidded Apple Gourd bowl by Kelsey Nelson. The cut was made with the Mini Super Jigsaw, and the leaves were woodburned using designs from the Multiples: Oak and Maple Leaves Stick 'n Burn pack. The leaves were colored with Classic Yellow, Classic Green and Deep Orange GourdMaster™ Ink Dyes.
