Date + Time: October 11th, 10:00am-3:00pm
Location: Welburn Gourd Farm
Level: All Levels; Beginner
We will have a relaxing class while learning about different pine needles and what works best for your desired effect. We will begin with selecting a prepared gourd bowl and learn how to evenly space and drill the rim holes. Next, we learn continuous pine needle coiling onto the rim to create our own baskets. Shaping techniques will be offered or you can just coil and let the gourd do its magic. Learn how to invisibly add new thread and how to hide the beginning and ending of your coiling.
About the Instructor: Vickie Echols has been traveling around the country as her full-time job since 2012 and is inspired by her students. She loves questions and challenges from her students. It helps her to create new projects where she incorporates natural embellishments into her pine needle coiling such as seashells, black walnut slices and lots of beads!
