Join artist and instructor Rosario Wilke in the creation of this hand-carved gourd vessel.  She will guide you step by step through three new and distinct texture carving techniques that give the surface depth, rhythm, and movement.  Using acrylic paint, you will learn different painting techniques to create the look of aged leather, a faux-Verdi green patina technique brings the appearance of weathered copper and timeworn beauty. Finally, you will inlay copper wire as accents that weave through the design like delicate traces of light, adding warmth, elegance, and a look that feels both ancient and contemporary.

Orders are processed within 5-7 business days before shipping.

We ship orders Tuesday through Friday only. Orders are not shipped on weekends or holidays.

Gourd orders are carefully hand-selected, cleaned, and packed to ensure you receive the best quality possible.

You'll receive a shipping confirmation email with tracking information as soon as your order is on its way.

  • A clean inside and out 6 - 7 inches canteen gourd with 2 - 3 inches opening refer to sample picture
  • 20 or 22 gage copper wire
  • dust musk
  • micro carver or Dremel (no cordless Dremel or engravers please)
  • all the burrs you already own
  • diamond riffler files
  • sand paper or sanding blocks
  • flat medium paint brushes
  • GourdMaster Ink Dyes Sunflower color
  • Disposable gloves
  • power strip
  • your general gourding tool box which will be helpful

Cancellation Policy:

  • For a full refund, notice of cancellation must be received 14 days prior to the start of class to respect our teacher's time and preparation of materials.
  • Cancellations received outside of 14-day window are non-refundable. Credit may be applied towards a future class.
