How to create a Gourd Jack-o-lantern and ghost

Not shown: If you would like a very bright lantern, we recomend drilling a hole in the bottom an using our Lamp Hardware Kit; Never use a real candle (especially on a gourd with a lid) as gours are flamable like wood.

If using your gourd for a Jack-O-Lantern with light inisde, we recommend skipping the step of painting the inside black because your lantern will be less bright if the inside is black (the black will absorb the light). Painting the cut areas black is recommended, however, as it gives your gourd a more finished look (and the small amount of black paint on the rim of your cut outs will not really dim your lanter).
